Also on vacation the smartphone offers some advantages and here are my favourite travel apps for travelling of all kinds:

Google Maps	Probably the easiest way to find your way with your cell phone. Of course, a good connection and corresponding data volume are required – really? No, you can also use offline maps. Interested? Check my simple tutorial here	Itunes	Playstore

Google Translator	Don’t understand anything in Athens? Not with the Google translator! Translate texts directly online. It doesn’t seem Spanish anymore!	Itunes	Playstore
Sleeping	Airbnb – it couldn’t be more authentic. Spend the night in a private holiday destination.	Itunes	Playstore

TripAdvisor	With TripAdvisor you get good tips and recommendations for interesting things in the region.	Itunes	Playstore
Safe Travels	Keep up to date with what’s going on around you. The German  Federal Foreign Office informs about the app.	Itunes	Playstore
Onleihe	The app, which also uses the Bremen City Library – super practical for travel guides of all kinds. This presupposes membership of the library and of course goes far beyond travelling. You may check with your local library for similar offers.	Itunes	Playstore

With the mentioned travel apps you are prepared for a relaxed start of your vacation. The apps are all free of charge. As always, a good preparation is a mobile phone contract with good international conditions, so that you will not get a bad surprice of your holiday in an unpleasant way after the holiday via your mobile phone costs.
